Flatout Fruit Winning Creation!

Thanks to everyone who emailed  and commented with their favorite flatout creations.  Congratulations to Tim who submitted the winning creation!

Tim’s Flatout Creation is below.  Thanks, Tim!!

All you need:

Flatout Flatbread

Northern fruits (apples, peaches, plums, berries, etc. – not citrus)

Butter

Sugar

Cinnamon

Salt

OPTIONAL: maple syrup and honey

All you need to do:

Use the regular size Flatout Traditional or Healthy Grain (or Minis for individual servings) in a pie pan or on a cookie sheet. Put the breads in a 350 degree oven for 5 to 7 minutes, take out and pinch up the outside edges while warm. Let cool, brush butter on one side, arrange sliced apples and peaches (or any other northern fruit combo) on top, sprinkle over top with sugar (could use maples syrup or honey) and cinnamon and a touch of salt, and bake another 7 minutes.

For a  lower calorie version: use Flatout Light breads with a light vegetable oil instead of butter, and less or no sugar added.

Flatout Fiber and Flatout filling!

Apples are a wonderful source of fiber.  There are several Flatout Creations that include apples.  Below is an easy one when you’re strapped for time, but want a snack that is full of fiber and filling! Pears are also a great source of fiber.  for this particular Creation, I used my favorite fruits with fiber: pears and apples.  Feel free to include your favorite fruits.

All you need:

One Flatout flatbread (For this, I prefer Light Original or Cinnamon Burst)

One apple, chopped into tiny pieces

One pear, chopped into tiny pieces

Peanut butter (use as much as you need) I usually use about one tablespoon

All you need to do:

Spread the peanut butter on the Flatout flatbread.  Place the small chopped up apple and pear pieces on top of the peanut butter.  Roll, wrap and enjoy!

Flatout Fiber Snack Wrap

In light of Flatout Fiber Month (Feb!), below are the ingredients to a fiber-filled snack wrap full of fiber. The Flatout flatbread alone has 9 g of Fiber! Broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and beans are all terrific sources of fiber. Wrap these ingredients in a Flatout Light flatbread, and enjoy this fiber –filled snack.  Make sure to chop up the ingredients into small pieces, so they can all easily fit into the Flatout.

All you need:

One Flatout Light flatbread

Chopped up fiber-filled ingredients such as broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, beans (you choose how much you want of each)

February Flatout Fiber Month

I am flatout crazy about fiber! As a lifetime Weight Watcher member, I am conscious of my fat, calorie and fiber intake, and I understand the many health benefits of a diet rich in fiber.

This month, I am making an effort to reach my recommended daily fiber intake of 20 g.  Of course, I won’t exceed 20 g of fiber a day.  As many of you know, too much fiber is never a good thing!

To be honest, it is pretty easy for me to reach the 20 g a day goal.  Because I eat whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and Flatout Flatbread daily, I’m pretty sure I reach close to 20 g every day without even trying. A diet rich in fiber could potentially lower the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and more.

One piece of Flatout Light Flatbread contains 9 g of fiber! That is almost half of the recommended daily fiber intake… in one piece of Flatout Flatbread! A flatout wrap with a side of fruit is full of flavor, deliciousness… and fiber!
